RESERVATIONS
MASSIA does not make a selection of stayers; everyone can stay at MASSIA as long as there are rooms available. DURING YOUR STAY, MASSIA ASKS YOU TO GIVE 1 HOUR OF YOUR DAY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SELF-ORGANISATION AND DAILY CARE WORK (these tasks can be made accessible to specific needs).
By booking, you agree to this and the basic principles laid out in MASSIA basics. Please take time to read through before you come.
MEMBERSHIP
Becoming a member is mandatory for staying at MASSIA. The membership fee is 12€ for a period of one year; the membership does not renew automatically. You become a member by signing the membership form, and confirming that MASSIA is not liable for any damage done to you during your stay.

Economic model of MASSIA
MASSIA works as a not for profit organisation. Its sustainability is based on the contributions made towards stays and memberships, and sometimes from one-off funding applications to arts and cultural organisations. Massia is not in receipt of any subsides or continuous funding. In addition, MASSIA’s self-organisation is mainly run on unpaid labor of the collective of organisers.
Sliding Scale
We work towards more awareness of difference in global access to resources, financial and others. We propose a sliding scale model of paying for stays, as a practice of solidarity and survival under capitalism.
Truthfulness to self & others
Sliding scale models only work if contributions are made towards costs that otherwise would not be possible to cover.
We understand that sliding scales often operate under a ‘no questions are asked’ basis. However, since we are in a learning process, we may ask questions once in a while. We are practicing how to talk about money and economics, and recognise that shame and discomfort are common.
How to choose in the sliding scale?
Consider:

- Your access to income and financial wealth (both current and anticipated): How easily could you earn more income compared to other people in your country and in the world? What is the minimum wage of the country you are based in? do you have the privilege not to work? Do you expect to receive an inheritance?
- Race and ethnicity. Especially if you are not white and European your access to rural spaces and rest would be limited.
- Your passport: What passport do you have, what privileges, resources, access does it grant you? Do you have access to generational wealth, inheritance? Do you have gender privileges? Are there any disabilities affecting your capacity to earn money?

FUNDED
If you apply for funding for your stay in MASSIA, please use “Funded” accommodation prices for your budget. Use the upper range of pricing if possible.
PAY-IT-FORWARD
If you are salaried/get paid regularly, are a homeowner/do not pay rent, have savings or the prospect of inheritance, can travel regularly, please consider this category.
Your contribution makes it possible to offer the “Solidarity” and “Supported” price categories.
REGULAR
The 18€ just about covers monthly costs, and doesn’t pay for (large) repairs, improvements, and the labour of daily and long-term organising of MASSIA.
SOLIDARITY
This price cares for the gap between what MASSIA would need for its sustainability and the unequal distribution of income and access to funds (eg. minimum wage, receiving state support).
SUPPORTED
MASSIA would like to support your stay, if you cannot afford the prices on this sliding scale.

We have started a TRAVEL FUND for those who cannot cover their transport costs.
The existing scale is informed by what we learned from others who organise events/offerings/club nights and any forms of gathering that need to function under capitalism and recognise histories of oppression. Other inspiration sources are the work of anarcho-feminists, solidarity and organising movements that centre black indigenous people of colour (BIPOC) and attempt to decolonise some of the ways in which generationally and systemically marginalisation deepens and keeps functioning.
