Reading the Seeds – Online study group

Reading the Seeds – May 2-3, 2021

There are so many ways for seeds to be activated, turning into forests of the future. Some require fire for release from their cones, others need saliva and sun, or heat and darkness.

There are so many ways for seeds to be activated, turning into forests of the future. Some require fire for release from their cones, others need saliva and sun, or heat and darkness.

Reading the seeds is a monthly online study group and offshoot from previous workshops at MASSIA dealing with histories of ideas revolving around ecology.

Each session is structured around a reading, a subsequent discussion, and an exercise in processing the study material in unusual ways: from foraging to field recording, cooking and dancing in between.

Seeds like texts carry information, however what and how they become varies wildly. Our study group follows wild suit. Leading towards a convening at MASSIA in the fall to proverbial reap what we have sown. For the first session on May 2–3, we read the SEEDS issue of MOLD Magazine.

As a gentle point of departure, you are invited to peruse the texts and share what reverberated with you. We will hold the discussion on May 2, 6-8pm EEST (Tallinn time). Although sowing a seed or cooking from foraged greens are options to keep in mind, the action for processing the reading on May 3 will be decided collectively at the end of the discussion, letting our desires and sensibilities lead. The processing will be held on May 3, 6-8pm EEST.
