BODY WEATHER WORKSHOP, MASSIA, 14-19 September 2026

Body Weather is a comprehensive movement research and performance training originating in Japan by Min Tanaka and the members of the Body Weather Laboratory Tokyo. In the 1970s he was joined by dancers and non-dancers, writers and other artists who had an interest in investigating and researching through the body. Body Weather is not a movement technique as such but an exploration of the intersections of bodies and their environments, an attention towards ever-shifting internal and external states and circumstances, often emphasizing improvisation, image-based work, somatic sensitivity, as well as a examining non‐hierarchical approaches to community and exchange.

About the workshop:

This Body Weather workshop consists of MB (Muscle~Bones/Mind~Body), a practice that is a physical dynamic training that awakens different form of attention, rhythm, coordination, flexibility and endurance. MB will be followed by a guided form of touch based partner work. We will then propose a series of sensory and perception explorations, spending time both inside and outside.

The workshop is facilitated by Selina Papoutseli and Petra Söör.

No previous experience necessary, open to anyone with a curiosity for exploring body and environment.

Our relationship to BW
